In college and high school sports, coaches are constantly seeking ways to enhance team performance and foster individual growth. Traditionally, end-of-season evaluations have been the norm, but in today's fast-paced environment, a more immediate and insightful approach is needed.

Enter myPerforma – an innovative post-game tool designed to provide coaches with real-time athlete-reported performance assessments. Let's delve into why coaches at all levels should care about incorporating this innovative system into their coaching arsenal.

Gone are the days of waiting until the end of the season to assess player performance. With myPerforma, coaches gain access to game-to-game athlete-reported reviews that offer valuable insights into individual and team performance. This immediate feedback allows coaches to identify strengths, weaknesses, and areas for improvement on a more granular level, leading to targeted interventions and faster progress.

At the heart of myPerforma's system lies the Mindset Performance Indicator (MPI), a comprehensive framework that enables athletes to assess their performance across various dimensions. Let's break down the components of the MPI. The MPI comprises (4) four main components, each offering unique perspectives on athlete performance:

  1. Overall Ratings: These encompass Individual Performance Rating, Team Performance Rating, Mental Psych Factor Rating, Physical Psych Factor Rating, Individual Preparedness Factor Rating, and Team Preparedness Factor Rating. These ratings serve as vital indicators of athlete perception, enabling coaches to gauge where athletes place themselves on the scale of performance and comprehensively provide coaches with a holistic view of performance. Athletes assess these ratings of individual and team performance, mental and physical psychological factors, as well as preparedness factors on a numeric scale of 1 - 7.
  1. Character Qualities: Athletes select strengths and areas for improvement from predefined character qualities, based on their contributions to the team during the game, offering insights into their personal development and contribution to the team's culture. This component provides measurable insight into the character attributes exhibited by players, fostering self-awareness and personal growth.
  1. Behavior Abilities: Similar to character qualities, athletes select strengths and areas for improvement from predefined behavior abilities which highlights the perception of their behavioral conduct during the game. This aspect sheds light on the behavioral dynamics such as on-field actions and decision-making processes within the team, which serves in facilitating targeted interventions for improvement.
  1. Hindsight Notes: This section allows athletes to journal additional insights and observations about themselves and the team post-game, providing coaches with valuable context and deeper understanding of player mindset and other team dynamics. This reflective component offers valuable qualitative data, enriching coaches' understanding of team weaknesses, opportunities, and threats.

By leveraging the MPI, coaches gain access to a wealth of data that goes beyond mere statistics. The aggregated responses offer insights into individual and team averages, as well as analytics that highlight character, culture, and identity based on athlete selections. This comprehensive approach enables coaches to tailor their coaching strategies to the specific needs and dynamics of their team.

But why should coaches care about integrating myPerforma into their coaching practices? The answer lies in its ability to drive continuous improvement and foster a culture of accountability and self-reflection. By empowering athletes to take ownership of their performance and providing them with a structured framework for evaluation, coaches lay the foundation for ongoing growth and success.

Moreover, myPerforma serves as a powerful tool for enhancing communication and collaboration between coaches and athletes. The transparent feedback loop facilitates constructive dialogue and enables coaches to provide targeted guidance and support to individual players and the team as a whole.

The benefits of adopting myPerforma as a post-game assessment tool are undeniable.
